Michael Jackson’s weakness ‘exploited by charlatan doctors’

June 26, 2009 · 1 Comment

News Source : Australian news

MICHAEL Jackson died “because he was taking all sorts of medicines” prescribed by “charlatan” doctors who exploited his hypochondria, the pop star’s friend and former producer Tarak Ben Ammar said last night.

“It’s clear that the criminals in this affair are the doctors who treated him throughout his career, who destroyed his face, who gave him medicine to ease his pain,” the Tunisian producer told France’s Europe 1 radio.

“He was a hypochondriac and one never really knew if he was sick because he had become surrounded by charlatan doctors who were billing him for thousands and thousands of dollars worth of drugs, vitamins.”

He said Jackson regularly took sleeping pills, adding he had never seen him take illegal drugs. “He ate badly, he didn’t have a very healthy life, he couldn’t do sport,” he said.

Doubts had already emerged about whether Jackson’s health would stand up to 50 concerts at London’s O2 arena from next month. Despite friends urging him to pull back, he was reportedly training and rehearsing six hours a day near his rented $US100,000-a-month mansion in the Los Angeles suburb of Bel Air, where he collapsed.

“He wanted to rehearse more, but the medications were getting in the way,” said Brian Oxman, a friend and former Jackson family lawyer who was with two of the reclusive star’s brothers at the UCLA Medical Centre, where he was confirmed dead. Mr Oxman said he had warned the family that if Jackson “wound up dead”, he would protest about abuse of prescription drugs.

Jackson was widely reported to have been addicted to painkillers. “We feared that this kind of thing would happen, and here we are,” Mr Oxman said.

Mr Oxman declined to go into the specifics of the medications taken by Jackson, and said he would await the results of toxicology results after today’s autopsy.

“I won’t jump to conclusions, I won’t point fingers,” he said on MSNBC television. “But when the results of this testing is going to be completed, I intend to be very loud and vocal, depending on the outcome of those tests.”

While preliminary results of the autopsy could be released today, toxicology results are expected to take longer.

Tom Potts, an Access Hollywood reporter, claimed Jackson had been fed “illegal prescriptions in massive quantities” brought into the US from Mexico. Potts said some supporters had wanted to “screen out” these drugs as a way to help the singer.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating Jackson’s death, but a spokesman indicated it was normal because of his celebrity. “Don’t read into anything,” he said.

While admitting to some plastic surgery to change his facial features, including rhinoplasty, Jackson was believed to have had surgery many times. His face appeared radically different from the way he looked at the height of his fame in the 1980s. He also appeared to have had the colour of his skin changed chemically to give him a pale complexion, seemingly at odds with public plaudits for his breakthrough as a black entertainer.

Speaking at the hospital, Jackson’s older brother Jermaine confirmed that a personal physician was in the house when he collapsed.

Paramedics called to the mansion performed CPR on Jackson, who was reportedly unconscious and not breathing. An emergency medical team worked for an hour to resuscitate him at UCLA.

Jackson’s planned comeback concerts were intended to rehabilitate his image after child molestation allegations, but mainly to rescue him from serious financial difficulties.

A legal battle is expected as the Jackson family and creditors fight over the estate. The main beneficiaries are expected to be Jackson’s three children: Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II.

One of the other main beneficiaries could be former Beatle Paul McCartney.

Although Jackson had lost most of his fortune and relied on loans worth hundreds of millions of dollars, he retained his prize asset: a 50 per cent share in the Beatles’ back catalogue of songs, which earned him $50 million a year.

In January, it was reported that the star wanted to patch up a rift by leaving McCartney the rights to Beatles songs in his will.

Child Abduction Prevention Advice and Tips!!

September 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Your best protection against child abduction and avoiding the need for an Amber Alert is to have a smart and informed kid that will know how to avoid dangers.

There will be times when your child will be alone and they need to know how to react in a dangerous situation. If you teach your child to avoid dangers chances increase that he or she will become more aware of a potential threat and know how to stay safe. Here are a few abduction prevention tips that you and your child should know. This is what you can tell him:

* Never let strangers come to  you and ask to take your picture. If something like this occurs you should immediately find your parent or supervisor.

* If someone grabs you and tries to take you somewhere try to attract attention on yourself. If you just start crying, people around you will think that’s mom or dad taking you home. Instead, cry for help by saying : “This is not mom” or, if the person is male “This is not dad!”

* If someone asks you to go near their car so that they can ask you some questions, avoid doing that. You can answer their questions from a safe distance.

* Do not let strangers tell you “Get into the car, your mom said so.” Many child abductions take place in a similar way, so make sure to get away from a person saying this to you.

* If you are being asked for help by a grown up, be cautious. If they really needed help they would ask another grown up to give them a hand.

* Do not let anyone touch you, anywhere on your body. You have the right to privacy and you have to be aware of this in every situation.

* When going home, never hitchhike, no matter how friendly and kind the driver seems. Unless your parents tell you specifically that someone is going to pick you up, you should say NO to everyone else.

* If someone walks up to you and tells you to keep a secret, run away and tell your teacher or your parents. Several child abductions take place by this method each day – do not become a victim!

* Your parents should decide to use a secret word that only you and them will know. Think of it as a password to a computer. Only you and your parents know it, and, for example if they send someone you don’t know to pick you up, they might tell that person the codeword as well, so that you know you are safe.

In case of an emergency, try to stay as calm as you can and yell loudly for help. React promptly to any gesture towards you as soon as it happens, and you might just avoid a child abduction!

At Osbornes, Mark Freedman and Kirsty Glover specialise in this area of law, representing parents whose children have been removed without consent or parents who have removed their children from the jurisdiction.

If parents believe there is an imminent risk of abduction there are emergency steps that can be taken to prevent the removal and protect the child. Urgent legal advice should be sought immediately.  Public Funding is usually available.
